Contact heel / ground during walking is lost for relieving greater than 40% by weight. Select the level of relief, when the patient reaches the heel contact / substrate on both sides at 10 consecutive steps. In assessing relief should take into consideration the degree of pathology occurs and the patient’s comfort. A patient with a high degree of pathology may require a higher degree of offloading. In order to assess the degree of relief the patient should use the weight. It shows the unweighting of the patient in kilograms. Eg. 30 kg on scale indicates that the patient is relieved of 30 kg. For a patient weighing 150 kg, this means 20% of its body weight.
